Lindsey Backer-Fulghum

INDEPENDENT PRACTITIONER
Dr. Lindsey Backer-Fulghum is a State of Kansas Licensed Psychologist and an independent practitioner. She works with adults of all ages providing both individual therapy and psychological assessment. She has extensive experience treating a wide range of presenting problems including depression, anxiety, adjustment and relationship issues, trauma, and grief/loss. In addition, Dr. Backer-Fulghum has specialized training in adult ADHD and Learning Disorder testing.
Dr. Backer-Fulghum’s therapeutic style is integrative and has a strong basis in person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and process-oriented approaches. She has specialized interests in working with individuals who have been struggling with miscarriages, stillbirth, and infant loss, as well as pregnancy-related depression and/or anxiety. As someone who has experienced pregnancy loss herself, she has a passion for helping individuals mourn their significant loss, and in given time, help one find personal meaning.
Dr. Backer-Fulghum received her Doctorate in Social Psychology from Baylor University in Waco, TX and went on to respecialize in Clinical Psychology at Suffolk University in Boston, MA. She completed her doctoral internship through Wichita Collaborative Psychology Internship Program (WCPIP) working at both Wichita State University Counseling and Prevention Services and Prairie View, Inc. Before joining The Therapy Center, Dr. Backer-Fulghum worked 4 years at Wichita State University providing mental health services (Individual and Group Therapy, ADHD/LD Assessment) to students.
Dr. Backer-Fulghum is married with two children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family in nature, painting, and curling up with a good book, her two cats, Mia and Boris and Harvey the dog.
