Dawn utilizes she/her pronouns and is a State of Kansas Licensed Master Social Worker and an independent practitioner at The Therapy Center. She is also certified to provide Alpha-Stim® Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) to clients struggling with anxiety and insomnia.

Dawn’s work focuses on helping her clients to develop effective coping skills and emotional competence with the goal of allowing them to lead more balanced and satisfying lives. Dawn has experience working with teens and adults with depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, schizophrenia, and personality disorders.

Dawn earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and then began her career in social services by assisting individuals with overcoming barriers to employment and providing workforce development services. She then shifted to working with individuals struggling with severe and persistent mental illnesses in residential settings while completing her Master of Social Work Degree. She spent some time as a Crisis Clinician at the Community Mental Health Center before first moving into private practice at Soma Therapy East, and then joining the team at The Therapy Center East office.

Dawn considers herself a lifelong learner and enjoys research and incorporating new tools and resources into her practice as they are validated and become available. She recognizes that the relationship developed between a therapist and a client is the most important factor in predicting the success of therapy, and so she is committed to actively listening to her clients while providing them with compassionate support in a safe environment. She employs a validating, nonjudgmental, and collaborative approach to create genuine connections. She is passionate about joining with individuals and helping them to build on their strengths, reconnect to their self and intuition, heal from their past, find peace in the present, and establish new skills to create a preferred future.

Dawn brings an eclectic approach to her practice and has studied Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as being certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy. Dawn is also able to provide Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for appropriate clients and once other psychedelic treatments are approved, will offer these as appropriate as well.
