Leatanya Koppa, LCPC
LICENSED CLINICAL PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
Leatanya Koppa is a State of Kansas Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and an independent practitioner at The Therapy Center. She has extensive experience working with children and women who have experienced severe trauma, anxiety and depression. She is certified in TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
Leatanya is dedicated to providing treatment that is evidenced-based. She uses a variety of techniques to reach children in ways meaningful to their developmental level, including puppet theater, play therapy, solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and art therapy. She regularly works with families to build stronger bonds and healthy communication skills. Leatanya works with women processing trauma and managing anxiety and depression. She spent many years as a domestic violence counselor at a shelter for women and children.
Leatanya has six years of experience providing mental health services to children and adults in the community mental health setting both in Kansas at Horizons Community Mental Health Center and in Arizona. She has more than 20 years of experience working with children, adults and families through counseling, case management and drug rehabilitation services. She received her Bachelors of Science in Family Studies and Human Services at Kansas State University and her Masters in Counseling at Northern Arizona University.
Leatanya enjoys working with women and children and helping them overcome negative thinking patterns and trauma. By working with Leatanya, women and children have learned coping skills that help them live a fuller and healthier lives. Leatanya has spent most of her career working with children and their families, creating paths together that create healthier bonds and positive communication skills.
Helping others, particularly children and families, is at the heart of who Leatanya is. She spent many years as a foster parent, raised a nephew, and is her mother’s caregiver. She is also “human mom” to her cats, Forest and Autumn, and her dog, River. In her free time she enjoys going for walks, listening to music and watching Dr. Who.
